Hawaii is an interesting state, unlike any other place I’ve ever been. Its capital manages to feel like a small town, despite being a modern skyscraper-dotted city in the middle of the Pacific Ocean. I’d heard people say not to visit if you’re claustrophobic, and I thought they were joking –but each of the islands, even the Big Island, manage to feel tiny. The museums and the food fight for your attention, and the beach seems to always be calling in the distance. It really is slower living, ‘island time’ is absolutely a real thing, telling you to take a load off and sit a while rather than rushing and scrambling around.
